The Gingerbread Meeting House - The Yocum Wedding

Hey everyone!

I’ve had the best few days! Between sipping on pumpkin spice coffee and enjoying cooler weather here in Charlotte, life has been sweet. This weekend, I spent time in Shelby, North Carolina, soaking in the brisk weather at the beautiful Yocum wedding!

This wedding was extra special for me. The bride and I grew up together at church, and it was such a joy to be part of her big day. Watching her get ready brought back memories of our childhood sleepovers and little league basketball games (she kept playing through high school—not me, though, haha!).

The venue, The Gingerbread Meeting House in Shelby, was stunning with its earth tones, natural greenery, and beautiful stonework. I loved how it felt tucked into nature while still being conveniently close to the highway and nearby lodging.

The venue offered plenty of parking, including handicapped spaces and accessible entrances. The ceremony and reception took place outdoors under a covered patio, with vinyl curtains available for winter warmth. Indoors, there were bridal suites and two smaller spaces.

The florals, arranged by InSeason Florals, perfectly complemented Sara’s sage green and burnt orange color scheme. Her bouquet was just the right size for photos and matched her vision for the day. The bridesmaids wore dresses from Birdy Grey, a trusted brand for bridal parties. Sara and her family did an incredible job with all the decor and details—it was truly a breathtaking celebration!

I loved getting to witness the wedding of Sara and Sam, and I just know that their friends and family felt the same me on this occasion, I shed a tear! I enjoyed the fun post-ceremony photographs almost as much as the meaningful moments before the ceremony. The reception was filled with delicious finger foods and Ale8 to drink, which was a first for me. I tried the StrawMelon flavor…I was surprisingly impressed by the flavor!

To Sam and Sara, thank you so much for letting me be a part of such a beautiful day, and to their friends and family for their hospitality towards me. To the vendors and venue, The Gingerbread Meeting House, thank you for all of your help and hospitality. To wrap up the day, we went to the nearby historic house that the family of the bride was renting for the weekend.

Thanks for reading the blog this week. I am wishing for the fall weather to come soon so that fall shoots can start being booked! Check out my Instagram for all updates and behind-the-scenes. xx

With love,

Leah Davis
