There’s something undeniably special about a December wedding, and Maddie and Selwyn Salter’s big day at Rocky River Plantation in Anderson, South Carolina, was nothing short of magical. As an editorial wedding photographer who loves timeless estates, Rocky River Plantation is a WIN. With a color palette of rich maroon and deep green, their wedding perfectly embraced the warmth and elegance of the season, creating a festive and romantic atmosphere that beautifully reflected their love.
Maddie and Selwyn’s love story began years ago when they were high school sweethearts, and after a year and a half of engagement, their long-anticipated wedding day finally arrived. From the moment they saw each other when Maddie’s father walked her down the aisle, it was clear how deeply they loved one another—the kind of love that is felt by everyone in the room!
The couple’s ceremony was a heartfelt celebration, featuring live worship music that made the moment even more moving and personal. There wasn’t a dry eye as they exchanged vows, surrounded by family and friends in the gorgeous setting of Rocky River Plantation in Anderson, South Carolina.
As the sun set and the reception began, the night truly came to life. While sunset bridal portraits are great, we were only able to shoot bridal portraits the end of the sunset, which posed a challenge for me, which I handled with some creative angles and poses up my sleeve! A live band played an incredible mix of classic hits, keeping guests on their feet and filling the venue with energy and joy. One of the most unforgettable moments of the evening was when Selwyn took the stage for the last song, surprising everyone with a heartfelt performance that had everyone cheering.
While December weddings bring a cozy charm, the entire day was chilly, with freezing temperatures and a brisk wind. But that didn’t stop the celebration! Heaters were all around the venue. Guests gathered inside to warm up and continue the fun before heading back out for a breathtaking sparkler exit, sending the newlyweds off with a bang.
